This free information wil hopefully give you some tips and different techniques that can be applied to your taxidermy work with birds.

Some of these techniques and tips may work well for you while you may find others do not.  That is a big part of taxidermy...finding your own way to do things!

Taxidermy Suppliers and Trade Publications

The list of taxidermy suppliers is pretty long. It gets bigger all the time. Depending on the area of the country you live in certain suppliers will make more sense to use. There are expensive and inexpensive ones, although you’ll find that the prices are generally pretty close. The following is a list of my favorite suppliers. You may find for yourself that you prefer others, and that’s fine. Find suppliers that work for you, whether its price, or service, or quality, it’s all up to you. I don’t have all the suppliers listed, but I do have most of the bigger companies. These are my favorites:

Supplies and Tools for Mounting Birds

The following is a list of the supplies that I use in mounting birds.  You don't necessarily have to get or use all of these items.  These are just the things I use.

Bird Eye Chart

This course is a suggested reference chart for you to use for bird eye size and color. Color and size both can vary slightly. It is always recommended to purchase a pair of calipers, measure the eyes and check the coloration of each specie you mount.

As with anything in Taxidermy…find out what you like and what works best for you!
